Results from CLAW's 2025 Residents' Survey

Climate Action Wendover (CLAW)’s first sustainability survey was carried out in Spring 2025 with residents from Wendover and surrounding villages. Thank you to everyone who filled it in!
83 people answered a range of questions to help us understand their views and actions about sustainability and biodiversity in the locality. We’re pleased to share the insights and feedback we received to inform future strategy and direction for councils, businesses, individuals and sustainability groups locally.
Here are 5 insights into local attitudes to climate change:
1. It’s a worsening challenge: Well over half (59%) of respondents to our survey are more worried about climate change than they were last year.
2. It’s a daily concern: Climate change is an issue that most (80%) of respondents think about regularly, including many (41%) who think about it daily.
3. It’s affecting how we live: Three quarters (74%) of respondents report that climate change is affecting big family decisions, in recognition of its effect on their lives and evidence of a desire for change.
4. It’s a visible risk in our community: Heavy rainfall and flooding, biodiversity loss, and extreme heat in summers are the top three areas of concerns for residents.
5. It demands greater action: The data indicate demand for systemic climate action alongside practical support to help people ‘green’ their homes and raise awareness in the community.
CLAW will share these insights with residents, local authorities, businesses and other environmental and climate groups to bring greater attention to residents’ demands for greater climate action.
