Climate Sunday Service at 10.30am with guest speaker Jess Hall, Campaigns and Organising Officer at Christian Aid.

Jess Hall has spent 10 years working alongside churches campaigning on economic and climate justice. She trained in organising and community leadership with her local Citizens UK alliance and spent 2 years in the disability rights sector working on policy influencing, campaign co-production and individual advocacy. Jess loves seeing ordinary people working together for the common good and global justice.

After the service Jess will be running two workshops At 12 noon Workshop 1 Telling our Climate Stories – when we want to get other people interested in taking action on the climate crisis we can wonder where to start. Telling our own stories can be a great opener, come along and discover your own climate story. (1 hour)   Book here At 1.30pm Workshop 2 Transformational Conversations – ever wanted to get someone to take action with you – to tackle the climate crisis or just get involved in what’s happening at church? Bring Your Own Picnic Lunch on Hampden Meadow Display by Climate Action Wendover (CLAW) – find out about the local environmental action group that is seeking to reduce Wendover’s carbon footprint, while promoting renewable energy, reducing waste, and increasing biodiversity. Take part in their Eco-Pledge and engage in plans for local tree planting. Display on Eco-Church – St Mary’s is seeking bronze accreditation. What have we done so far and what remains to be done? What would we need to do to achieve silver? Workshop on The Loving Earth Project: Caring for the World We Love. Meet members of the local U3A textile group and explore ideas for designing your own textile panel as part of this creative and contemplative response to the climate crisis. http://lovingearth-project.uk The project celebrates people, places, creatures, and other things that we love but which are threatened by growing environmental breakdown. It offers a way to help people engage creatively and constructively with the issues, without being overwhelmed. It also offers a way to share initiatives and your reasons for taking them with a very diverse audience. Contributors make 30cm square panels out of preferably recycled textile materials.

BBOWT guided walks: Discover the Wildlife of a Country Churchyard At St Mary’s, Wendover, the conservation areas, ancient trees and mossy tombs are home to many colourful species. Explore the churchyard and the nearby Hampden Pond and Community Orchard with well-known local naturalist John Tyler. Walks start at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm and last 45 minutes.
